Windsurfing: The Dip-Felixstowe Wind Direction: ne Wind Stength: 15/20 Surf / Sea State: smooth in lumpy out Air Temperature: 24 Sea Temperature: 17 Weather: sunny Max Speed: 24.74 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 43+ (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
What a top 5 star day !!! :) After a night shift, home at 3:30 in the
morning up at 10 and on the water at 11 !!! :) I got down first shortley
followed by Chris Stevens, with winds gusting to 25 mph I went with my 7 m
and heavier xantos. The tide was high and had only been ebbing for an hour
or so the sea was fairly big out past the red and white bouy and just got
smoother and smoother in close up by kiter beach. I went for an hour and
was out for 90 mins reaching a mile + through the bumpy stuff before
heading to the flat water for some great fast gybing - sadly not shown up
with my alpha's - I am doing something ??? perhaps not coming back up
higher enough after gybing ??? With a few more sailors turning up I had a
snack and tried again but it was had going with 7 m ( to be honest the 7
was a fracton under in the first session - as the top speed was a bit slow
as I was underpowered when going broad:( ) I then changed to the 7.8 and my
light xantos and had another hour but never flat out and when the tide
changed we lost the really flat water as it chopped up even in close - So
after 3+ hours solid on the water I had to rush to Ipswich for another 12
nightshift !!! :( Looks like the wind filled in later and everyone had a
top day too :)
PS - am pleased with my hour - not bad for lumpy felixstowe and I got 20
n/miles over 17 kts and am knackered !!!
